Chasing The Stars - Orion

"Guided by light, steady among stars."

Nuance & Notes

Orion is a whisky of elevation and balance - bright without sharpness, fragrant without excess. It moves with a sense of measured orbit, where freshness, floral perfume, and gentle sweetness are drawn into alignment by a subtle mineral pull. A port finish in American oak adds depth beneath the lifted profile, introducing soft red fruit, roast warmth, and a hint of dryness without disturbing its clarity. Nothing rushes forward; everything feels suspended, precise, and softly illuminated - a whisky defined by harmony rather than force.

Nose

Light and aromatic, with quiet depth beneath the lift.

A saline, mineral note opens the glass, like cool night air, bringing immediate clarity. Fresh citrus follows - lemon oil and peel - bright and clean - alongside sweet vanilla and a faint trace of honey.

Beneath the brightness, fresh coffee grounds and a gentle smokiness emerge, subtle and controlled rather than dominant, grounding the perfume.

Green herbs - basil leaf and soft garden freshness - appear next, joined by dried lavender, which adds a delicate floral lift without excess.

Palate

Clean and gently mouth-warming.

Mineral umami develops first, lightly saline with a soy-like savoury hum that keeps the palate focused. Sweetness follows in soft layers - vanilla cream, honey, and buttery richness - moving into crème caramel touched by lavender.

Red berry notes surface quietly through the centre, joined by bitter plum skin, adding contrast and definition rather than weight.

Green citrus freshness returns as lemon–basil lift, while light roast and faint smokiness echo softly beneath. The texture remains creamy and restrained.

Finish

Dry, composed, and quietly glowing.

Red berry and bitter plum fade into soft citrus, mineral salinity, and gentle roast. The sweetness withdraws cleanly, leaving a medium-length, dry finish with lingering clarity. Warmth releases slowly, the palate left aligned, lifted, and calm.
