Hands Of The Maker - Atlas

$1,300.00

"Shaped by steady hands, and the patience of years."

Nuance & Notes

Atlas is a whisky of structure and resolve — upright, deliberate, and firmly commanding. Shaped by American oak ex–red wine cask, it draws brightness, grip, and warming intensity forward rather than softening them. This is a profile built on tension and balance: acidity and alcohol provide lift and backbone, while richness from fortified wine and dark fruit emerges gradually, held in check by oak, bitterness, and grip. Atlas does not offer ease; it offers assurance — a whisky that holds its form under pressure and rewards attention with clarity, depth, and control.

Nose

Lifted and expressive, mineral at first.

Bright citrus oils open the glass — lemon peel and orange zest — followed by caramel and corn syrup sweetness. A core of sweet fortified wine emerges beneath: blackberry jam, prune juice, and balsamic richness, dark and concentrated rather than lush.

Vanilla pod and new oak frame the fruit, while struck match and flint add a precise mineral spark. Fresh pine and a faint medicinal note lend edge and definition, keeping the nose upright and controlled.

Palate

The palate is oily and energetic, carrying flavour with weight and precision.

Red berries and dark fruit lead — blackberry, prune, and plum — layered with dark chocolate, walnut skins, and bitter-sweet caramel. Tropical fruit flickers briefly through the mid-palate, adding contrast before tightening again.

Sweet baking spices and zesty savoury notes follow, alongside coffee grounds, char, and new oak, building depth without softness.

A fine, tea-like grip gathers across the palate, mouth-watering and precise, sharpening the richness and extending the structure with intent.

Heat builds steadily — mouth-warming rather than hot — bringing spice, wood, and peppery energy before lifting away.

Finish

Long, dry, and resolute.

Red wine character lingers throughout — dark fruit skins, toasted oak, and gentle bitterness — supported by pine resin, vanilla husk, and subtle medicinal warmth.

The heat fades slowly and deliberately, controlled rather than softened. The final impression is one of strength held in balance — a whisky that bears its load with certainty and does not set it down lightly.
